Animal Centre Volunteer
Invercargill Centre
We are looking for volunteers to help with the daily work of caring for our animals, walking our dogs, or simply sitting quietly and stroking a timid cat or kitten.
You will be involved a range of duties such as:
- Cleaning cages.
- Feeding the animals.
- Caring for the animals.
- Walking dogs.
- Taking care of small animals - guinea pigs, rabbits, chickens and birds.
You must be confident at handling animals, hardworking and reliable. We are happy to accommodate various commitment lengths, and need volunteers who can understand written and spoken English.

Thanks for your interest in volunteering with SPCA. Volunteers are a huge part of our team—we couldn’t do what we do without you!
To get started, just fill out the form below. If you need help, please call the team at your local SPCA Centre or op shop.
A few things to note:
- You must be at least 15 to volunteer in our Op Shops.
- You must be at least 16 to volunteer at our Centres. If you are younger, please check out our sections on 'Volunteering for Kids', 'Volunteering from Home' or talk to your family about fostering opportunities.
- You may need to provide an up to date Ministry of Justice check during this process, and we'll ask about any medical conditions so we can ensure your safety while volunteering.
