Are you looking for a fun, flexible way to make a difference for animals?
Event volunteering is a great option for those who want to support SPCA’s work - and love getting involved in community events and fundraising! Each centre has different opportunities throughout the year - from one-off events, large campaigns and community activities.
Volunteer for our Fill the Bucket Street Appeal SPCA’s Fill the Bucket Street Appeal is back on Friday 30 and Saturday 31 October 2026! Join volunteers across Aotearoa to help raise vital funds for animals in need. Simply choose a two-hour collection shift at a time and location that suits you – and at many locations, you can even bring your dog along. Find your two-hour shift here

Why we want you
As an Event and Fundraising Volunteer, you help bring our community together and support vital fundraising efforts. Your contribution helps raise essential funds and awareness for animals in need. We are hugely grateful for your support in creating better lives for New Zealand’s animals!
What you'll be doing
- Local events - Helping at community events such as centre open days, adoption events, or special campaigns.
- Local fundraising - Helping at community fundraisers such as sausage sizzles, market stalls or quiz nights.
- National fundraising - supporting activities such as SPCA's 'Fill the Bucket' Appeal, and 'Cupcake Day'.
The skills you need
- Friendly, enthusiastic volunteer who enjoy meeting new people.
- Reliable and comfortable working as part of a team.
- Confident communicating with members of the public.
- Able to stand for periods of time and carry and set up event materials.
- A love for animals and a willingness to support fundraising efforts.
- Must be aged 16 years or older.
- No regular commitment is required - you can choose which events to take part in, depending on your availability.
