Op Shop Volunteer - Lower Hutt
Wellington Centre
Our Op Shops are a key link between SPCA and the community.
Volunteers who work at one of our three Wellington Op Shops in Johnsonville, Lower Hutt, and Petone assist with cleaning, managing and selling of recycled items that others may need, and merchandising. All proceeds go to support the SPCA.
Volunteer at one of our Op Shops:
- Minimum age: 16 years.
- Personal time commitment: one shift once a week, or one shift every third weekend. Half and full days available
- Training: you will be required to attend training sessions for your specific area, in addition to receiving training while on-the-job during your shift.
What can we do for you?
- Give you customer service and cash handling experience
- Make you feel great for helping contribute to the humane treatment of animals
- Spruce up your CV with volunteer work
- Give you a friendly work environment to hone your skills for that great job you are looking for.

Thanks for your interest in volunteering with SPCA. Volunteers are a huge part of our team—we couldn’t do what we do without you!
To get started, just fill out the form below. If you need help, please call the team at your local SPCA Centre or op shop.
A few things to note:
- You must be at least 15 to volunteer in our Op Shops.
- You must be at least 16 to volunteer at our Centres. If you are younger, please check out our sections on 'Volunteering for Kids', 'Volunteering from Home' or talk to your family about fostering opportunities.
- You may need to provide an up to date Ministry of Justice check during this process, and we'll ask about any medical conditions so we can ensure your safety while volunteering.
