The dog daycare business is the first in the South Island to become SPCA Certified.

Everything Dog joins the SPCA Certified family

When we send our dogs to daycare, we don’t just want them to be watched over – we want them to participate in enjoyable social interactions, to stimulate their brains with rewarding tasks, and to be able to express their normal dog behaviours in a way that is healthy and satisfying to them. And, of course, we want them to be safe and feel secure at the same time.

Supporting dog daycare facilities – and other pet care businesses - to provide such enriching environments for the dogs in their care is what the SPCA Certified companion animal programme is all about.

We are proud to welcome our first South Island dog daycare member, Everything Dog to our programme! Their team has worked exceptionally hard to ensure they have what is required to provide a safe, enriching experience for all dogs. Not only does Everything Dog do all the things a traditional daycare might, they also tailor their care and activities to individual dogs who have unique needs.

Whether your dog prefers lots of friends, just one or two other buddies, or just prefers the company of humans, Everything Dog endeavour to create an individualised plan of engaging activities and human cuddle time, to ensure that every dog can shine and experience the benefits of well-structured daycare.

Everything Dog has ever-changing enrichment rooms that keep dogs interested and entertained, providing exciting experiences and opportunities for dogs to engage their clever minds. The sensory garden stimulates the senses of smell and touch with herb plants and safe essential oils on wood, turf and pavers, and the specially designed outdoor areas give dogs opportunities to jump, hide, sniff, and play under large shade-sails.

Caitlyn Spies, Everything Dog Operations Manager, has noted the significance of becoming SPCA Certified.

“Becoming SPCA Certified was an important step in validating the values we live by every day,” Caitlyn says. “We are committed to ensuring every dog in our care has their welfare needs met in a safe, enriching, and fun environment.

“The certification process itself was smooth, with the SPCA team’s communication and feedback being amazing in helping us navigate each step—it was an exciting and insightful journey that connected our daycare with a welfare-based organisation. This certification reflects our dedication to high standards of dog wellbeing, giving families peace of mind that their dogs are not only cared for, but also truly able to thrive and enjoy their time with us.”

The team at SPCA Certified loves that we get to build relationships with people who have the dogs’ best interests at heart, and who keep pushing for excellence. They are true front-runners of a largely un-regulated industry and have committed the time, resource and effort into becoming SPCA Certified – all because they want to, not because they have to.

Please join us in giving Everything Dog a round applause for doing the best for dogs in their care. We are proud to move forward with them, pushing boundaries and raising benchmarks for continual improvement in the industry.
