SPCA launches ‘In Memory’ giving website
The new website allows those who have lost loved ones to continue their story and help animals in need. Whether to remember someone who was an avid animal lover, or to celebrate a beloved pet who has passed on, SPCA’s ‘In Memory’ website allows mourners to transform grief into action, and help their lost loved one to make a powerful final act.
Anyone who has ever lost someone they love knows how much of a hole can be left in their wake. It is only natural to want to keep their memory alive, and celebrate them.
Giving in memory of a beloved friend, family member or pet who has passed on is a meaningful way of remembering those who have gone, and celebrating what they stood for.
SPCA’s new ‘In Memory’ website has been created as an online space for people to do just this. Celebrating their life with donations to SPCA not only brings comfort to those missing them, but it transforms loss into an act of love, helping animals in their name.
There are two ways people can choose to take action online:
Create a personalised ‘In Memory’ tribute page
This page is a place to share stories and photos, collect donations, and easily invite others to contribute. For some, encouraging donations to the individual’s favourite charity in lieu of flowers is a comforting way to keep their spirit with us.
Make a one-off donation in memory of someone special
Without setting up a page, anyone wishing to make a one-off donation in memory of their loved one can do so easily online. Why not share some words when making your donation so we can know a little about the amazing soul they were?
SPCA Chief Executive Todd Westwood says he is glad to have a place where we can remember our lost loved ones together. “This new website is a place where we can honour those who have had an impact on our lives, and celebrate how much they meant to us – and how much animals meant to them,” he says.
“I have always loved hearing the names, seeing the faces, and reading the stories of those who care deeply about animals and support the SPCA’s mission – it is one of the most joyous and humbling parts of my role here. I am so glad we can now offer our network of supporters a place to bring some of these stories and memories together, and honour the love of animals that so many of us share.”
