This October, New Zealanders can double their impact for animals thanks to Purina
Throughout the month of October 2025, the amazing team over at Purina will be matching donations from the public up to the value of $40,000.
The initiative follows a successful matched giving drive to raise money for the SPCA in 2024, which saw New Zealand give generously, collectively raising $58,723 for animals in need.
Purina has provided immeasurable support by feeding the vulnerable cats and dogs of SPCA, donating over 100,000kg of their Purina ONE food to the charity.
Now, they want other Kiwi animal lovers to take the opportunity to join them in their dedication to animals in need, and are offering to match every donation made this October to the increased value of $40,000 this year.
From tomorrow, those keen to get involved in the collective moment of action can do so in one of two ways:
- Text ‘NEED’ to 3181 to donate $3 which will be matched
- Make a donation of any size online over at www.spca.nz/need
2,168 animals came into SPCA’s care in October 2024 alone, an increase on the same period the year before. Mr Westwood says 2025 looks to be at least as busy.
“What SPCA achieves for animals has always been the result of a team effort. 90% of our work is funded through donations from the public so we are incredibly grateful to the team at Purina in using their platform to encourage as many as possible to support animals in need.
Donations to the value of $40,000 will be matched* until the end of October 2025. Funds raised will go directly into SPCA’s lifesaving work for animals, whether performing surgeries, desexing animals, or covering the costs of their care while they wait for adoption.
