Centre Assistant
Thames Centre
We are looking for volunteers to help with day-to-day tasks around the Centre, such as laundry, cutting towels for rags, and cleaning.
You will be involved in a range of duties, such as:
- Working with cats
- Working with dogs
- Laundry
- Cleaning
- Replenishing Pet Food
- Assisting with adoptions
- Assisting with vet treatments
- Cutting towels for rags
Qualifications and Education Requirements
No formal qualification required but you will need to be at least 18 years of age.
Preferred skills
Successful candidate must be able to follow instructions and all Health and Safety requirements. They should be enthusiastic, hardworking, be able to work well in a team and have a genuine love of animals.

Thanks for your interest in volunteering with SPCA. Volunteers are a huge part of our team—we couldn’t do what we do without you!
To get started, just fill out the form below. If you need help, please call the team at your local SPCA Centre or op shop.
A few things to note:
- You must be at least 15 to volunteer in our Op Shops.
- You must be at least 16 to volunteer at our Centres. If you are younger, please check out our sections on 'Volunteering for Kids', 'Volunteering from Home' or talk to your family about fostering opportunities.
- You may need to provide an up to date Ministry of Justice check during this process, and we'll ask about any medical conditions so we can ensure your safety while volunteering.
